Noelle McCarthy is a writer, broadcaster and podcast-maker.
Her first book, a memoir called Grand, won the EH McCormick Prize for General Non-Fiction at the 2023 Ockham New Zealand Book Awards.
She grew up in Ireland and started her radio career at 95bFM in Auckland, before spending nearly a decade as a host and producer at Radio New Zealand National.
In 2017 she set up Bird of Paradise Productions with John Daniell; their podcasts have won and been nominated for major awards in New Zealand and overseas.
She is currently Writer In Residence at Te Herenga Waka- Victoria University’s International Institute of Modern Letters, where she is working on her second book.
