Our opening event is full of wairua. Ben Brown (Ngāti Mahuta, Ngāti Koroki, Ngāti Paoa) is an acclaimed writer, poet, performer and publisher who lives in Lyttelton. Ruby Solly (Kāi Tahu, Waitaha, Kāti Māmoe) is a writer, musician and taonga pūoro practitioner living in Pōneke. Her new book is The Artist. Joined by author, singer and tāonga pūoro musician Ariana Tīkao (Kāi Tahu), they will open the festival with a stirring and soul-warming evening of storytelling, poetry, waiata, and a beautiful display of culture and creativity.
