Ross Calman

Ross Calman (Ngāti Toa, Ngāti Raukawa, Ngāi Tahu) is an Ōtautahi-based writer, historian and translator. In 2023 Ross received an Honorary Doctor of Arts from the University of Canterbury in recognition of his contribution in the fields of Māori history, publishing and translation. He co-wrote and hosted the podcast ‘Te Rauparaha: Kei Wareware’ (awarded Gold at the 2024 New York Festivals Radio Awards) and his latest book, The Treaty of Waitangi / Te Tiriti o Waitangi, published by Oratia in January, was shortlisted in the non-fiction section of the 2025 NZCYA Book Awards.
