
Murdoch Stephens
Murdoch Stephens is a Wellington-based writer, publisher, and refugee advocate. He is a founding editor of the publishing collective Lawrence & Gibson and the author of several novels, including Rat King Landlord (2020) and the Ockham NZ Book Award-longlisted Down from Upland (2023).
He is also the author of numerous non-fiction books including Doing Out Bit: the Campaign to Double the Refugee Quota (2018) and Visas Now! (2025). He currently working on a book of speculative anthropology called Pākehā Metaphysics.
