Jane Arthur is a poet and fiction writer. Her two poetry collections, Craven and Calamities! (THWUP), were both longlisted for the NZ Book Awards, and Craven won the Jessie Mackay Award for best first book in 2020. Brown Bird (Puffin) is her first book for children, and was a 2024 Storylines Notable Book, a Listener Best 50 Kids’ Book of 2024 and one of The Spinoff’s Best Books of 2024. Jane has twice judged the NZ Book Awards for Children and Young Adults, and was a founding editor of The Sapling. She is currently working on a PhD in Creative Writing at the IIML at Te Herenga Waka Victoria University of Wellington. Image: Tabitha Arthur
