We are sorry to say that due to ongoing COVID restrictions and complications, this event is now cancelled.

In his exquisite essay collection Tranquility and Ruin, polymath Danyl McLauchlan, author of Unspeakable Secrets of the Aro Valley, goes looking for enlightenment, or at least snatches of happiness, and finds himself shovelling clay with a monk until his hands bleed. In conversation with Ekant Veer, Danyl shows how the weird worlds of Effective Altruism, meditation and metaphysics, medication and depression can be hilarious – until you find yourself inexplicably in tears.

Please note that James Nokise was advertised as the original chair for this session, but is now unable to attend.

Tickets are not required to attend free events. We do recommend arriving early to secure a place. Please note that if COVID-19 alert levels change, online registration for free events will be required.
