CANCELLED – READ ALOUD SCHOOLS DAY

We are sorry to say that due to ongoing COVID restrictions and complications, this event is now cancelled.

The Read Aloud Schools Day is back for another year! Each festival, we bring six exciting children’s writers to the stage, free for all primary and intermediate schools in Canterbury. This year we are stoked to welcome Gavin Bishop (Wild Aotearoa, Ātua), Maysoon Salama (Aya and the Butterfly), Lily Emo (illustrator for Margaret Mahy’s The Boy Who Made Things Up), Graci Kim (The Last Fallen Star), Joanna Grochowicz (Shackleton’s Endurance) and Maria Gill (Remarkable Animal Stories).

READ ALOUD will be held in the James Hay Theatre at the Christchurch Town Hall.

Session One 9.45am-10.45am featuring Maria Gill, Gavin Bishop and Maysoon Salama
Session Two 11.30am-12.30pm featuring Graci Kim, Joanna Grochowicz and Lily Emo

Come to one or both sessions and make a day of it in the city. This is a great opportunity for children to meet the authors up close and ask them any burning questions they may have, then get their books signed by the author themselves!
