I have a strong interest in the environment and climate change so I’m looking forward to this panel session and discussing the role and responsibilities of writers when it comes to dealing with climate change. More info here.

I have worked with young writers for many years and I was keen to include a session by youth for youth in this programme. I’m particularly excited to be working with two of New Zealand’s most talented up-and-coming flash fiction writers, Hannah Daniell and Chloe Morrison-Clarke to run this session. Book here.

Melanie Dixon is an Ōtautahi based writer, creative writing tutor, and the current director of Hagley Writers’ Institute. Her short stories and flash fiction have been published and anthologised internationally, and her debut novel A New Dawning was published with OneTree House in April this year. She has a Master of Creative Writing from the University of Auckland, and also holds science degrees from the University of York and Oxford University. When she’s not writing, you can find Melanie biking, running, or tramping in the mountains, or planning her next adventure somewhere wild.
