Freya Daly Sadgrove is a writer, performer and theatre-maker from Pōneke. She has a Master of Arts in Poetry from the International Institute of Modern Letters, and her first poetry collection, Head Girl – described by Hera Lindsay Bird as ‘ruthless in its emotional interrogation of human behaviour’ – was published in 2020 with Victoria University Press. She is the architect behind Show Ponies, hailed by Ben Fagan as ‘a watershed moment for poetry in performance in Wellington’.
Freya trained in theatre with Long Cloud Youth Theatre and PlayShop Performance Company between 2010 and 2016. Over the past five years, she has worked with several Pōneke theatre companies and collectives, on such shows as Ancient Shrines and Half-Truths and Break Up: We Need to Talk (Binge Culture), Massive Crushes and Me and My Sister Tell Each Other Everything (My Accomplice), and Marine Snow and Revelations (Words on Trees).
