Anke Richter, originally from Germany, is an international journalist and author of four non-fiction books. Cult Trip: Inside the World of Coercion & Control is her latest one. Since 2003, she has reported as a foreign correspondent from New Zealand and as a freelance writer for North & South, The Spinoff, New Zealand Geographic, NZ Listener, Stuff, RNZ and Canvas. Over the last ten years, her research has focused more and more on high-control groups (aka cults), especially the aftermath of Centrepoint and more recently Gloriavale. She also worked on a number of documentaries, including Heaven & Hell: The Centrepoint Story and Angie. Anke is a co-founder of FACT (Fight Against Conspiracy Theories) Aotearoa and now the founder and convenor of Decult, the first cult awareness conference in Aoteaora New Zealand.
